Richard
was born in 1969, grew up in Coventry and remained a Midlands boy until
he went to university at the age of 24. As a teenager Richard played
football for Coventry Boys and represented his county at athletics. A
keen sportsman, Richard captained sides in Rugby, football and cricket,
until he discovered his true vocation; the theatre.

He began with the Belgrade Youth Theatre,
in Coventry, in productions such as, Miss Julie and Road the progressed
to form his own touring theatre company "Just Us". He toured
with Berkoffs' one man show "Harry's Christmas" and Abee's
"The Zoo Story" before changing direction to write and perform
his own music in a rock band. After recording demos for Island Records,
Richard decided to return to theatre and embarked upon a degree course
at Dartington College of Arts in Devon. This Internationally renowned
art school, introduced Richard to a wider arts culture, and instilled
a new sense of purpose and desire to perform. With a successful performance
at the Edinburgh Festival behind him, Richard was accepted for the
post-graduate corse at the Birmingham School of Speech & Drama,
for which he was one of the few people to receive a Sir Anthony Hopkins
Bursary Award. 2001 looks like being another successful year for Richard, with the premiere of his new one-man show; Where's the Chocolate Biscuits? And the writing of his first novel; Being isn't Easy. Richard also continues to write and perform his own music. |
